Google Begin Checkout event: the booking funnel becomes measurable 09.07.2026
For operators, marketing
Until now, Bookacamp reported to Google Analytics whenever a booking was completed successfully — the purchase event. What was missing: the start of the journey. How many prospects even open a booking form? And how many of them actually book in the end? That is exactly the gap the new begin checkout event closes.
Sent when a booking form is opened
The moment a guest opens a booking form, we send the official
GA4 e-commerce event begin_checkout to your
website — carrying the same product information you know from
the purchase event: session code, title, price and currency.
Google Analytics therefore attributes both events to the same
product.
Funnel and remarketing without extra effort
Because begin_checkout and purchase
form a standard funnel, Google Analytics shows the drop-off
rate of your booking form right in the e-commerce reports — no
custom configuration needed. And in Google Ads you can build
audiences from it, such as "started a booking but did not
finish" for targeted remarketing.
The event is activated with a single switch in the account settings under Tracking. As with all tracking features: we send nothing if the guest's browser signals Do Not Track.
